Awakening
In a world of selfishness and intolerance, it’s easy to get lost in the chaos. However, even through the fog there are moments that remind us not only of the true beauty but also the innocence of the world.
I was awakened from this state the moment my father was diagnosed with cancer and I became pregnant with my daughter. Suddenly the chaos no longer mattered and I learned to absorb and appreciate every minute I was given. My images reflect those moments frozen in time.
I create large-scale pieces that bring out the natural raw beauty in the moment that is captured through the use of light and shadow. My work is inspired by my own personal thoughts and experiences, allowing each piece to tell its own story.

Portraits
Sometimes in order to get through the hard times we turn to art.
Many of these portraits were used as memorial portraits.

Sinful Serenity
My catholic upbringing made me particularly aware of the presence of the seven deadly sins in life. Although it wasn’t until I personally experienced the sins first hand that I began to look for prime examples of vanity, lust, greed, anger, envy, sloth, and gluttony in everyday life. The constant bombardment of media, pop culture, high end fashion and corrupt role models numbs the public to the sins. Each sin intertwined into one another has seemingly become mainstream, accepted, and forgotten.
My images are a look at human behavior and how I believe an over indulgence of one sin can lead to another sin which in turn can result in the destruction of ones self. My visual “sinners” are all female because I relate to the female more than the male. This series of work is my journey and explorations into the sins and it’s through my eyes in which the sins are rendered.
I created oil paintings and large scale charcoal drawings depicting each sin. The series started off as full body poses and as the work progressed the focus turned to the faces of my models. The use of color contrast varies between each work dependent on what sin is represented. I based the medium on what would be most effective to display my idea of what the sin actually is. These pieces of art are my take of a visual modern reminder of each sin in daily life.
